SNEH International School took up the Vermicompost project as an Eco Club initiative wherein the students were motivated to segregate the waste produced. Students bring biodegradable waste like used tea leaves, fruit and vegetable peels from home. The waste produced in school garden like fallen leaves, dry grass is also collected. The waste is then gathered in a pit near the basket-ball area of the school ground. It is then covered with a layer of soil. Red worms were also introduced to speed up the process of decomposition. The school gardeners are guided to add water in the pit at regular intervals. After a span of almost 6 months the entire waste gets converted to manure which is then used in school garden.
