Born in an affluent family in Punjab, Madan Lal Dingra went to England in 1906, to study / mechanical Engineering in the University of London. In England he came in contact with freedom fighters and was deeply influenced by their patriotic enthusiasm, this also coincided with the execution of several freedom fighters in India.
Deeply angered, Madan Lal Dhingra and a few other like minded young Indians decided to avenge these deaths by killing Sir Curzon Wyllie, the political aide-de-camp to the Secretary of state of India. Madan Lal Dhingra was chosen to do so. This act of M.L. Dingra was hailed as one of the first acts of revolution in the Indian freedom movement in the twentieth century. He was executed on August 17,1909.
His last words were, “I am proud to have the honour of laying down my life for my country, but remember we shall have our time in the days to come”. Every year the school observes August 17 as Martyrs’ Day in memory of valiant freedom fighter. His struggle for freedom inspires all Indians to act against unscrupulous authority for the good of the nation.
Shri D.R. Dingra was born on November 14, 1929, even as a young man he was always deeply interested in serving others. One of the biggest influences in his life was Swami Dayanand whose precepts he followed right thoughtout his life. He served in the Police Department from 1947 to 1986, and after completing all his worldy duties, took premature retirement to fulfill his social and religious obligations. In 1991 he took Vanaprastha, however, he died soon after in 1993.
His deep rooted beliefs and strong influence made the Dhingra family fulfill his great desire to serve society by educating children irrespective of their class and creed. A religious and dutiful wife, Smt. Ishwar Devi took care of her family in every difficult situation and guided her children to do the same. It was her influence and guidance which helped her family in fulfilling her husband’s desire to serve the society by educating the young, especially the girl child.
She left for her heavenly abode in Uttarayan Kaal (popularly known as Devayaan) at 4:00am on the day of makar sakranti on January 14, 1998. It was these two wonderful people who gave the inspiration to start SNEH International School Which has emerged as one of the best schools in East Delhi.
